What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise your browser on a later visit. Cookies are commonly used to keep you logged in, to remember settings, or — most relevantly for policies like this one — to track behaviour for analytics or advertising.
This site sets no cookies
Altumbase sets no cookies of its own, and it allows no third party to set cookies through it. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, no tracking pixel, no social-media embed and no session identifier. Nothing on this site writes a cookie to your browser. Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no cookie consent banner — and there should not be one. A "we use cookies" strip on a site that sets no cookies would itself be a false statement, so we do not display one.
The plain summary
No cookies. No tracking. No consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes, this page changes first — see the commitment at the end.
What happens instead
Two ordinary things happen in place of cookies, and neither involves storing anything on your device:
- Server logs. The hosting provider records standard technical logs — your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time — for security and diagnostics. This happens on the server side and is described in the privacy policy. It does not use cookies.
- Google Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches a font file, that request reaches Google and includes your IP address, but it does not set a cookie. Google describes its handling in its own privacy policy.
No other browser storage, and no fingerprinting
Beyond cookies, this site also uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage and no IndexedDB, and it does not attempt to fingerprint your browser or device. The only JavaScript on the site is first-party and unminified, and it exists solely to run interface features such as the mobile menu and the frequently-asked-questions panels. It stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere.
Managing cookies in your browser anyway
Even though this site sets none, you may wish to control cookies generally, since other sites do use them. Every major browser lets you view, block and clear cookies from its settings, usually under a "Privacy" or "Security" heading. You can also browse in a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it. Doing any of this will not affect how this site works, because this site does not rely on cookies in the first place.
Our commitment if this ever changes
If cookies were ever introduced to this site — which is not something we plan — we would update this page to describe them accurately, and we would put a working consent mechanism in place before any cookie was set. The policy would describe the reality, not the intention, and it would never list a cookie the site does not actually use.
